A designer is trained to use empathy in an effort to understand the user and solve the problem at hand. Like many things in life, too much of anything may not be a good thing. Designers rely on empathy to provide more insight to the users' thought process—but does it include all users or a selected few? Are those users chosen because of data, similarities, or sympathy?
